No. Once a story is deleted or has expired, TikTok documents no way to see who viewed it. The viewer list lives inside the story, and when the story goes, so does your access to the list.
Two features get mistaken for a way around this — the story archive and highlights. Neither does what people hope, and this page explains why.
Why the list disappears
TikTok documents the viewer list as something you reach by opening your own live story and swiping up. Every documented route to that data runs through the story itself:
You can see the total number of Story views you receive, as well as the accounts that watched it.
Stories stay visible for 24 hours. After that the story is gone from your profile, and with it the only documented path to the viewer data. Deleting a story early produces the same outcome sooner.
There is no separate analytics surface holding the information. It does not appear in TikTok Studio or in your post analytics — this is a frequent source of fruitless searching.
Does the story archive keep the viewer list?
TikTok does maintain an archive of your stories, and references selecting from it when you build highlights. So your stories are preserved.
What TikTok does not document is viewer lists being preserved alongside them. The archive is described in terms of keeping and reusing the content, not the metrics attached to it.
Do highlights bring the viewers back?
Highlights let you save a story to your profile so it stays visible for longer than 24 hours, and TikTok notes that a highlight's visibility matches the settings of the original story.
That is about who can watch it going forward. It is not documented as restoring or carrying over the list of people who already watched. A highlight extends the content's life, not its history.
Worth knowing for the other reason too: because the highlight inherits the original story's visibility, saving a story does not quietly widen its audience.
What to do instead
Screenshot the list while the story is live. Unglamorous, and it is the only method that reliably works. If a story is performing in a way you want a record of, capture it well before the 24-hour mark rather than in the last few minutes.
Check it more than once. The list keeps growing while the story is live, so a screenshot taken an hour in tells you much less than one taken near the end.
Do not delete a story you might want data from. Obvious in hindsight, and the most common way people lose the list — deleting early because a story underperformed, then wanting to know who saw it.
The same rule applies to other people's stories
If you are on the viewing side, expiry is just as absolute. Once a story is gone, no tool retrieves it — not ours, not any of them. There is no public archive of expired stories to draw from.
The only exception is a story the creator saved to a highlight, which stays on their profile with its original visibility. If you missed something, that is the one place worth checking.
This is why every story in our viewer shows the time remaining before it expires — so you can decide whether to download it while the option still exists, rather than discovering the deadline afterwards.
Questions people ask
Does deleting my story delete the views too?
The view count and viewer list are attached to the story, so removing the story removes your route back to them. TikTok documents no way to retrieve the list for a story that no longer exists.
Can I recover the viewer list from my story archive?
TikTok describes the archive as a place your stories are kept so you can reuse them, for example when building highlights. It does not document viewer lists being preserved there, and we could not verify that they are.
If I add a story to a highlight, do the original viewers carry over?
Not in any documented way. A highlight keeps the story visible past 24 hours with the visibility settings the original had, but TikTok does not describe it as carrying the original viewer list with it.
Does re-posting the same story bring back the old views?
No. Posting it again creates a new story, which starts with a fresh view count and an empty viewer list. The two are not linked.
