TikTok Story Downloader

Save stories before they disappear

Enter a username and download any public story as MP4 or JPG — original quality, no watermark, and without ever opening the story in the TikTok app.

Works with any public account. Free, unlimited, and nothing to install.

The difference

Why every other story downloader cannot be anonymous

This is not a marketing distinction. It is a consequence of how the other tools are built, and it is worth understanding before you use any of them.

Search for a TikTok story downloader and every result asks for the same thing: a story link. Copy the link, paste the link, press download.

Now think about how you get that link. You open TikTok. You find the account. You open their story. You tap share, then copy link.

You opened the story while signed in — so your username is already in their viewer list. The download happens afterwards, long after the thing you wanted to avoid has already happened.

Working from a username removes that step entirely. You never open the story in the app, so there is no session, no account, and nothing for TikTok to attribute. The request that fetches the story carries no identity at all.

It is also just faster. No switching apps, no hunting through a share sheet, no pasting.

The distinction is about what you must do before downloading, not about the download itself.

Step by step

How to download a TikTok story

Three steps, about fifteen seconds, and nothing to install.

  1. 1

    Enter the username

Type or paste the @handle of the account whose story you want. A full profile link or even a story link works too — we read the username out of whatever you paste.

  2. 2

    Open the story

Their active stories load in a tap-through player. Each one shows how long is left before TikTok deletes it, so you know what you are about to lose.

  3. 3

    Download

Press download on any story. Videos save as MP4, photos as JPG, at the quality TikTok served — with the file size shown before you tap.

The deadline

Why downloading is the only way to keep a story

Stories are the only content on TikTok with an expiry date. TikTok is explicit about the window:

TikTok Stories allow you to share photos and videos that stay visible for 24 hours.
TikTok Help Center

After that the story is removed from the profile. There is no public archive, no replay, and no recovery route — not through this tool and not through any other. Whatever was posted is simply gone.

Which makes the countdown on each story the most useful thing on the page. A story posted twenty hours ago has four hours left. Once that runs out, no TikTok story downloader on the internet can retrieve it, regardless of what its homepage claims.

There is one legitimate exception. If the creator saved a story to a Highlight, it stays on their profile past 24 hours and keeps the visibility settings the original story had. If you missed something, their highlights are the one place it might still exist.

What it works on

Every public story, in the format it was posted

Any public account, any active story, on desktop or mobile — video and photo stories alike, saved exactly as TikTok served them.

The one thing worth planning around is the clock. A story is live for 24 hours and then TikTok removes it, so downloading is the only way to keep one. That is why the countdown sits on every story here — you can see at a glance whether you have hours or minutes.

If you are checking an account and nothing appears, that is usually the 24-hour window rather than a problem. Most accounts have no story running at any given moment. The tool names what it found either way, so you know whether to come back later or check the handle.

Safety

What a downloader should never ask you for

One rule covers nearly every risk in this category, and it applies to us as much as to anyone else:

On what you do with the file: downloading a public story for your own viewing is ordinary. Republishing someone else's content as your own is not, and that is a copyright question rather than a technical one. The stories belong to whoever made them, and our terms are explicit that this tool is not for harassing or monitoring anyone.

FAQ

Questions about downloading stories

Do I need the story link to download it?

No, and that is the point. Every other story downloader asks you to paste a link, which you can only get by opening the story in the TikTok app first — registering your view. Here you enter the username instead, so you never open the story in the app at all.

Is there a watermark on downloaded stories?

No. Stories save at the quality TikTok served them, with no watermark added and no re-encoding. The file size is shown on the download button before you commit.

What format do stories download as?

Video stories save as MP4 and photo stories as JPG. You do not choose — the format matches whatever was originally posted.

How long do I have to download a story?

24 hours from when it was posted. Every story here shows the exact time remaining, so you can see at a glance whether to save it now. If a creator has saved a story to a Highlight it stays on their profile for longer, and those can be downloaded the same way.

Which accounts does it work with?

Any public account, which is the overwhelming majority of TikTok. Enter the handle and their active stories load straight away, with no follow, login or approval needed.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

Free, with no account, no app and no browser extension. You are never asked for a TikTok password — no legitimate downloader needs one.
